Vending Machines and Making Money

One of the more common money making opportunities we see on a regular basis is vending machines. As a business opportunity, there is a possibility to make money with machines that vend products. There are also a good many pitfalls. Vending machines offer a person the opportunity to be one's own boss for an investment. If you have the capital -- or can set up a monthly payment agreement -- you can be involved with selling gumballs, candy, soda, coffee, toys, trinkets, snacks, bottled water, gum -- the list is long. There are even vending machines for mature items to be sold in public restrooms. You will find vending machines for things you truly want to sell, and other things you may not.

With vending machines, be sure to choose a product you really want to sell.

If you are seriously considering getting into selling products from vending machines, here is a bit of cautionary tale for you. I come from a from family of entrepreneurial-minded folks. To be sure, we have all had failures and successes -- but regrets are not an issue for us.  If you fear failure, you will never get out there and try anything.  Among our setbacks, is a case where a couple of my relatives got involved with a cigarette lighter machine opportunity.  They spent thousands -- as that is what it takes to get into this industry -- going into debt, for the little machines and the lighters to go inside them.  Very wisely, after receiving the machines and their stock, my relatives placed the stocked machines throughout a resort area near them.  In many cases, they struck agreements to place them right beside cigarette vending machines.  (This was back when cigarette machines were much more common and accepted.)  My relatives had a well thought out plan. And they worked hard.  Alas, it turned out the lighters were -- let's say -- nothing special. They were very similar to lighters people could buy many places -- at convenience stores, package stores, and other retailers.  My relatives were not able to pay back the debt with the meager sales that came through their vending machines.  In the end, they had to give up that business, and one of them took a part time job to resolve the money they borrowed.

Still, they had no regrets.  As the saying goes, nothing ventured, nothing gained.  The self-employed entrepreneur has to live by that motto.  If you have a failure, get up and try again.

Some vending machine opportunities are set up really to make money just for the company selling the machine.  You will want to look for a situation where you truly believe -- you know -- you can sell what you're buying.  You're not going to get into the vending business for free, and anything you can do to improve your chances that you can recoup your investment and make money from vending machines is a must-take measure.

Depending upon where you are located, you can sell just about any product that will fit into a vending machine.  In some parts of the world, they even vend eggs from machines.  Once you know what you want to sell, key to your success will also be vending machine placement.  Remember, for various reasons, you can't just put machines any old place.

You'll need a high-traffic area and an agreement from that space's management -- be it a small store or a mall -- and you will likely have to pay a little rent, or a percentage of your sales. Your vending machine company will have tips and documents available to help you do this.

You can find vending machine opportunities by looking in your local newspaper's classifieds.  Look under Business Opportunities and you will almost certainly find a vending machine offer.  Online, a very good place to start is a VendingMachinesUnlimited.com for machines.  For products to sell in your machines, you will need to call a wholesaler local to you.

Getting into this business and being successful at it takes research, capital, self-discipline, organization, and a little luck.  The more you work, the more luck you'll make for yourself.  So get out there and start your vending!

I think its easier to buy vending machines which are already located or being sold by individuals. You can visit www.BuySellRoutes.com They have listings by individuals or established routes.

Making money by vending machines is quite a good idea. One can cut down on the expenses of the employees. Still there would be people who want human service while shopping.
